Program and applying

How much does it cost?

Agora is completely free for all participants. 0€.

Do I need to know how to program?

Although may be advantageous to have basic coding skills, data science projects always require a deep understanding of the relevant subject matters, which may be in the realm of psychology, arts, finance or anything else. Consequently, we welcome any skilled individual and actively aim to gather a crowd with diverse skill sets so that the contributions of every member in a given team will count.

When is the program?

The first cycle starts in the beginning of September 2018 and ends in the middle of November 2018.

  • Official Program Dates:  September 5th - November 7th 2018.
  • Final Project Presentations: November 14th 2018.

Can I apply even if I don't have a project yet?

Yes. We will host an icebreaker event at the beginning of each cycle where participants are invited to present and discuss ideas they may already have and find peers to team up with. Furthermore we will give people access to our digital communication channels for further project discussions. We still encourage you to come up with a few project ideas before attending this first session.

I have already started working on a project, can I still apply?

Yes, we’re open to applicants that have already made progress on their ideas. Agora could be a great opportunity to find like-minded collaborators.

Duration and time commitment?

One Agora cycle has a length of 10 weeks (project presentations will take place in week 11). During this time we will host weekly meetups, each of which lasts for approximately 3 hours. Beyond that, you can spend as much time on your personal project as you want.

How many people will be selected?

A maximum of 25 applicants will be chosen for the first cycle. We are planning to open up Agora to more people in the future though.

Where is the program located?

The program is located in Vienna, Austria. The meetings will take place at the Entrepreneurship Center at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
